About Portico

Management Consultancy

Our consultancy team all have many years’ experience of working with the NHS and local authorities, public sector, government bodies and not-for-profit organisations. Below are brief pen-portraits of the senior Portico consultants. Our consultancy model is based on employed staff – ensuring maintenance of the highest quality and shared knowledge within the consultancy team.  We occasionally work with carefully chosen associates who can complement our in-house skills on specific assignments.

Matthew Robins

Matthew specialises in strategic studies, typically working at senior levels in a multi-agency context. This includes information strategy development, options appraisal, organisational reviews, and process review and improvement. Much of his recent work has been jointly commissioned to support service integration and information sharing between health and social care. He also has considerable experience of developing IM&T services including establishing large scale Health Informatics Services.

Jan Hoogewerf

Jan’s consultancy work spans all health and social care settings, and she specialises in working with multi-agency groups and projects on information sharing agendas. Jan has a comprehensive understanding of emerging policy and initiatives at a national level as a result of her work in this area. She also works on change and benefits management associated with the implementation of IT systems to ensure that they are exploited to the full to deliver improvements in healthcare delivery.

Robert Gale

Robert has over 15 years of consultancy experience, predominantly in the public sector, not-for-profit organisations and for the NHS and department of health. His experience spans strategy development, programme management, systems development and deployment, business case development and procurement.
Robert heads up Portico's technical practice. His specific expertise covers systems and integration architectures, networking, data warehousing and management reporting, and service management and delivery.

Charlotte Whaler

Charlotte has extensive experience in management of large-scale projects covering all aspects of the systems procurement and implementation process. This includes business case preparation, requirements definition, benefits and procurement management, system evaluation, contract negotiation and implementation planning and management.

Technical Consultants

Members of our technical services team provide technical consultancy and support services, including the development and deployment of specialist solutions.  All staff have a relevant degree and contribute specialist technical and business sector experience as well as a strong grounding in general technical skills and customer support.

Care Equation

Portico also works together with Care Equation, a consultancy specialising in social care. This partnership enables us to provide a uniquely effective service on complex multi-agency projects.
