Adding value to RiO community/mental health systems
Portico is working with PCTs and Trusts to project manage the
implementation of RiO community and mental health systems.
In addition, to maximise benefits from RiO, we offer a number of
technical services which enable greater value to be obtained
from minimal additional effort. Some of these services are
described below.
Project management
For several years, Portico has supported Trusts with the
implementation of their RiO systems, with a focus on process
review and benefits realisation. We can provide expert
project managers with an in-depth knowledge of RiO. As well as
managing implementation, they can provide specialist input on
data migration, process review and improvement, and benefits
realisation.
Automated transfer of immunisations from GP systems
Portico use RADE technology to provide automated transfer of
immunisation data from EMIS and Vision GP systems into RiO. The
solution provides clinically safe translation and data cleansing
between GP and RiO codes at an antigen level.
An example PCT achieved direct savings of 2 wte data entry
staff, plus time savings in GP surgeries and improvements in
data quality and clinical safety. Improvements in data quality
can also contribute to improved immunisation uptake performance.
An example PCT increased immunisation uptake from 60% to 90%
through improved accuracy and completeness of the immunisation
records.
Reporting services
Portico has an un-paralleled knowledge of MicroSoft Reporting
Services and the RiO database structure and so can help you
publish professional, timely and relevant reports to managers
and care professionals.
We offer a range of services, from working with your service
managers and clinicians to build a core set of reports to get
you started, through developing Reporting Services skills in
your own Trust or PCT to helping you to set up web-based self
service delivery of management reports via your Trust or PCT
intranet. We can also help with audit table reporting,
automating the load of data to your local warehouse and in
merging data and producing pan-APO reporting.
Automated upload to RiO from digital pens
Automated upload to RiO from digital pens enables community
staff to record assessments and other clinical information in
the patient’s home, leave a copy, and enter the data into RiO
without re-typing. This means a reduction in professional
time spent recording, more time available to spend on patient
care, and improvements in data quality. The data becomes an
integral part of the patient record and is re-usable, rather
than simply a scanned PDF attachment or Word document.
Polyclinic integration with Jayex automated arrivals
Portico’s software integrates RiO with the Jayex automated
arrivals system, which is used in many polyclinics, to present
Rio clinic/appointment data alongside GP clinics on automated
arrival and display boards. It means that people arriving
for podiatry and other community health clinics can have the
same arrivals service as those with GP appointments. It
also saves clinic receptionist time.
SMS text reminders
This service sends texts to patients’ mobiles to remind them
about their appointments. This saves administrative effort
in phoning to remind patients and can also reduce DNA rates.
Text reminders can also be used for one-off patient
communications, for example to remind people who have dropped
out of smoking cessation services.
The software is provided free, just follow
this link to register
and download a free copy. Portico can provide additional
support with implementation if you need it.
Data Migration Services
Portico have extensive experience of data migration in health
and other sectors. We provide a full data migration
service to support implementation of RiO. We can also
provide specialist support enabling in-house teams working on
data migration to benefit from wider experience and developed
tools and techniques.
