Information and IT Service Re-configuration

There are many pressures for the development of information management and IT services in health and social care organisations. In the NHS there are obvious impacts on capacity and skills from the National Programmes for IT, but the service modernisation agenda is also changing the underlying needs of organisations both at an operational level, in how agencies work together and use information, and at a corporate level in the redesign and commissioning of services. There are also efficiency pressures for the rationalisation of IT services along with other back office functions.

Service re-configuration and development that will support
these changes need to be explored, in particular to enable
the most effective use of skills in the face of
increasing demand.
